Pretoria Energy is continuing to strengthen its position in sustainable transport by developing a fully integrated Bio LNG ecosystem designed to make low-carbon road haulage commercially viable, operationally practical, and scalable across the UK.

Unlike many renewable fuel providers, Pretoria Energy’s approach extends beyond fuel production alone. The company operates its own fleet of Bio LNG powered vehicles, delivering fuel across the UK using the same low-carbon solution it produces. This closed-loop model allows Pretoria Energy to validate the performance, reliability, and environmental benefits of Bio LNG under real commercial operating conditions every day.

By actively using its own fuel within its transport operations, Pretoria Energy measures sustainability through real-world logistics performance, fleet reliability, and emissions reduction rather than theoretical projections.

Tackling the UK’s Bio LNG Infrastructure Challenge

Through operating its own fleet, Pretoria Energy identified one of the largest barriers to wider Bio LNG adoption in the haulage sector: access to reliable refuelling infrastructure.

Rather than waiting for third-party investment, the company committed to developing its own dedicated UK Bio LNG refuelling network. Pretoria Energy currently has four Bio LNG refuelling stations operational, with additional sites planned throughout 2026.

The expansion of this infrastructure is helping remove range anxiety for operators and enabling Bio LNG trucks to operate efficiently on standard trunking routes across the country. By improving accessibility to renewable fuel infrastructure, Pretoria Energy is helping make sustainable haulage a realistic option for mainstream logistics operations.

Supporting Hauliers with Flexible Commercial Models

While infrastructure is essential, Pretoria Energy recognises that cost and financial risk remain significant challenges for transport operators navigating decarbonisation.

To help overcome this barrier, the company launched Pretoria Bio Truck – a pence-per-mile commercial model that allows haulers to adopt Bio LNG vehicles without upfront capital investment.

This flexible approach enables operators to deploy low-emission vehicles immediately, scale usage as confidence grows, and reduce exposure to the financial risks traditionally associated with fleet transition projects.

By aligning costs directly with vehicle usage, Pretoria Energy is helping businesses decarbonise their transport operations without placing additional pressure on balance sheets or cash flow.
